Predictive maintenance: equipment that warns you before it breaks

MECATHERM's M-Care platform is a remote-monitoring system that tracks equipment operating parameters and catches anomalies before they turn into failures.
How it works: line-mounted sensors continuously read vibration, temperature, power draw, and cycle time. M-Care runs analytics and catches drift — gradual deviation from baseline. When an anomaly trips the threshold, the operator receives a notification with a step-by-step action list: what to check, what to tighten, which component to swap.

When the issue can't be resolved on-site, M-Care patches the operator straight through to MECATHERM tech support. Most new equipment from the company now ships M-Care ready out of the box.

MIWE takes a parallel approach via its Bakery Cloud platform — remote recipe management, energy-consumption monitoring, and oven-utilization tracking.

For plants not yet on cloud-connected equipment, there's a simpler way to apply the predictive-maintenance principle: regular monitoring of energy draw via the on-board control panels. A sudden spike in consumption is a clear signal to schedule a PM.
